Kylian Mbappé Joins On
Football superstar Kylian Mbappé has officially joined Swiss sportswear brand On, marking the end of his long-standing partnership with Nike and the beginning of a new chapter in football footwear. The partnership was announced on September 18, 2026, as On officially entered the football market.
Mbappé will serve as a global ambassador for On while working directly with the brand’s product teams to develop and test future football boots and apparel. He has also become a shareholder in the company.
On’s Entry Into Football
Best known for its running and tennis products, On is now expanding into football with Mbappé at the centre of its new football division. The brand has also appointed Thierry Henry as Director of Football, adding another major name to its ambitious move into the sport.
LightSpray Technology
One of the key technologies behind On’s football ambitions is LightSpray™. Originally developed for lightweight footwear, the technology uses a robotic process to create a lightweight, precision-engineered upper with fewer materials and reduced waste.
On plans to adapt this technology for its football boots, with its first widely available football products expected in 2027.
Mbappé’s Role
This partnership goes beyond a traditional athlete endorsement. Mbappé will contribute his professional experience directly to product development, helping On design and test future football footwear and apparel.
His involvement gives On access to the experience of one of the world’s elite forwards while allowing Mbappé to help shape a completely new football product ecosystem.
The Future of On Football
The Mbappé partnership represents a major strategic move for On. Instead of simply entering football with existing products, the company aims to develop a new generation of football footwear around lightweight engineering, innovation and athlete-driven design.
With Mbappé leading the athlete partnership, Thierry Henry overseeing the football division and LightSpray technology at the heart of its footwear ambitions, On’s entry into football could create a serious new challenger to established football-boot brands.
